On August 11, 2009, the European Union launched an anti-dumping investigation on sodium gluconate (customs duty number: 2918160000) originating in China, and selected the alternative country as the United States. On October 28, 2010, the European Union made a final ruling. Shandong Kaixiang Biochemical Co., Ltd. was still granted market economy status with a tax rate of 5.6. Qingdao Kehai Biochemical Co., Ltd. received a separate tax rate, which was slightly reduced from 27.3 per cent to 27.1 per cent. The tax rate for other enterprises was slightly reduced from 53.4 per cent to 53.2 per cent.

On October 27, 2015, in response to the application of Jungbunzlauer S.A. and RoquetteItalia S.p.A., the European Union initiated an anti-dumping sunset review investigation on sodium gluconate originating in China.
